Korilla BBQ Food Truck

I’m glad the food trucks are starting to give more love to the Upper West Side of Manhattan.  First the Wafels and Dinges started on Monday’s, and it looks like the new Korilla BBQ truck wants to provide some friendly competition.  I was happy to try it out and see if the early reviews are legit.

The menu consists of some really nice Korean ingredients, vegetables, sauces and flavors combined with Mexican style food.  They offer Tacos, burritos, mini sandwiches and a bowl.  A lot of the meal is picking and choosing what you want: First the protein, Chicken thighs, beef, spicy pork or tofu (the Vegetarian doesn’t have to worry).  You pick your sauce, rice variety, kimchi and vegetables.  With the bowl, you really can go wild, having up to 7 choices.

I went with the bowl with spicy pork, topped with Korilla Sauce and atop white rice.  For veggies, I pretty much picked everything and since I love spicy foods, I pretty HAD to get the red kimichi.  All of the vegetables tasted crunchy and fresh, not soggy like you might get at a crappy salad bar.

The portion is huge for only $8.  I didn’t even finish it.  I think that the taco’s would be what I would try next with the beef.  The staff took my order quickly and were very friendly.  When they drive back up to Columbia, I’ll be there waiting.

I will share my creative meals of the Carnivore and the Vegetarian.
